The Eurotunnel
The Eurostar service connects England, France, Belgium and the Netherlands, with trains that travel through the channel tunnel - or "chunnel", as it's nicknamed. That's one of the reasons why traveling with Eurostar is an incredible experience: passengers can travel through the undersea railway tunnel that connects the United Kingdom and France.
The tunnel runs beneath the English Channel and stretches for 31.35 miles (50.45 kilometers), making it the longest undersea tunnel in the world. Actually, the Eurotunnel consists of three tunnels: two for trains and one service tunnel. The train tunnels carry trains in opposite directions, with a separate tunnel for each direction, and are connected by cross-passages for emergency access.
Efficient and Eco-Friendly Travel
Eurostar is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainable travel. Eurostar trains are electrically powered, which significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions compared to air travel. Additionally, Eurostar aims to be powered only by 100% renewable energy, which is already the case for trains traveling between in the Netherlands.
